Community library

The VAWF library is a reference library containing books, videos, leaflets and reports and periodicals, all organised by category.

The categories follow LVSC’s ‘Sorted’ system. We have material in the areas of: Disability (DIS), Education (EDU), Employment (EMP), Funding (FUND), Government (GOV), Health (HEAL), Housing (HOUS), Information Management (INF). Public Relations (MEDIA), Organisational Management (ORG), People (PEOP), Personnel Management (PERS), Reference (REF), Regeneration (REG), Social Welfare (SOC) and Voluntary Sector (VOL). Within these categories there are sub–categories which have numbers. In the library you will find index boxes in which all the books are filed on cards and a list on the wall of all the categories and sub-categories.
Periodicals, leaflets and reports are filed in boxes alphabetically by subject. Books are filed alphabetically by subject and classification. Their classification label is their subject category followed by the first three letters of the author’s surname.
