Photographers Focus on Local Social Groups

As part of this year's E17 Art Trail, Image17, a group of photographers based in Walthamstow, London have set out to document the huge variety of local leisure and social groups within the Borough for an exhibition. The project aims to highlight and record the rich, diverse and sometimes unusual hobbies and activities which bond communities and create friendships.

There are independent social groups for almost every conceivable activity in Waltham Forest. From the Fuchsia and Pelargonium Society to Operatic Societies, Scrap-bookers to Ramblers - each week, hundreds of local residents take part in little known activities which enrich their lives. The photographers will document these subjects, portraying their passions positively.

If you are part of a special interest group and would like to be part of the project, the Image17 photographers would like to hear from you.
Please contact Katherine Green, info@katherinegreen.co.uk.

LINk Business Management Group Elections

Waltham Forest LINk will be undertaking an election process among its membership to secure the 15 places on its Business Management Group. It is important that Business Management Group members come from a broad cross section of the local Community. It is essential that members have the knowledge, skills and ability to fulfil the criteria for the roles, that they actively represent the community and LINk as a whole and not just as themselves or an organization.

Business Management Group Members will be responsible for developing WF LINk, setting its work priorities and holding health and social care services to account.

Interested in being part of the LINk’s central decision making process?
Want to find out more and become a WF LINk member?

Community Cashback - New Government Fund

Communities set to benefit from cashback from criminals

Communities in London could benefit from ‘cashback’ from criminals as millions of pounds in seized assets are to be spent on worthwhile projects nominated by members of the public.

Community organisations and local people can nominate a local project for a share of a £95,000 pot, which London has been allocated out of a national £4 million Community Cashback fund recently announced by the Home Office, and then vote on a shortlist of projects.

Nomination and voting is done through a dedicated website -
http://cashback.cjsonline.gov.uk/cc.asp?area=23 - and communities are encouraged to think about projects that tackle anti-social or criminal behaviour.

The closing date for nominations is August 21, 2009 at 3pm
