Funding News

Council Grants for Local Sports Groups

The Council is offering grants to local sports groups as part of its new Fit Club Scheme. Fit Club aims to encourage people - especially those who don’t currently exercise - to participate in sport and physical activities taking place in their communities.

They’re awarding grants to sports clubs and groups who want to develop new activities for over 45s, women and girls, families, and anyone new to sport. Funding will also be available to clubs that want to increase the number of trained coaches and volunteers they have. The Fit Club project will run until March 2011, and grants will be awarded via a tender process.

The closing date for applications is 31 March.

To find out more about Fit Club, or to ask for an application pack, email Melanie Summers: melanie.summers@walthamforest.gov.uk or call her on 0208 496 3695.

Please Note: Voluntary Action will be hosting a 'Meet the Funder' session on this funding stream on 4th March, 10am-12noon at the Jubilee Centre, 2 Cathall Road (in the grounds of Cathall Leisure Centre) E11. Further details: Mutmahim at mutmahim@voluntaryaction-wf.org.uk
