Members Resources : aKtion Kit

Take aKtion for Organisational Improvement

Voluntary and Community organisations need to make sure that everything they do helps them to achieve their aims and objectives.
We need to make sure that we use our resources effectively and efficiently, and that we meet the needs of everyone with an interest in our organisation.

What is the aKtion Kit?

In order to achieve this, Voluntary Action Waltham Forest developed the aKtion kit to give us a structure so that we can review our work in an on-going way. It will help us look at all areas of our organisation, including:

  • the service we offer to our ‘clients’
  • the way we organise our financial and administrative systems
  • how we make decisions on a day-to-day basis or over a longer period
  • opportunities for feedback and involvement (including service users) in looking to the future.

aKtion Kit Contents

  • An organisational healthcheck (‘The Healthcheck Questionnaire’)
  • A skills audit (‘An Audit of our Skills and Knowledge’)
  • A tool enabling the organisation to draw up an action plan (‘Getting There!’)
  • A list of resources (‘Strengthening Our Organisation’)

The kit’s purpose is to help groups to look at the systems and procedures (S & P) that they have in place, and to identify how and where they need to be developed and improved.

The aKtion kit will help groups to take the first step towards seeking to secure a recognised Quality Assurance accreditation such as P’Quasso or even the Quality Mark. The aKtion kit is now available through Voluntary Action. There are a limited number of copies, which are being offered to organisations in Waltham Forest on a first-come-first-served basis.
