Does your role include providing hands-on support to community groups?

This practical two-day residential programme will enable development workers in support organisations to help local groups recognise and grow their leadership roles, both internally and in partnerships.  

Liberating Leadership is an empowering and accessible new approach to leadership that will be a powerful resource for change in our communities.  It is about recognising and supporting leadership in networks and neighbourhoods, temples and tenants associations, parishes and partnerships, street parties and sports clubs, music groups and mosques.

For just £99 per person, it includes two days training, overnight residential accommodation, refreshments, follow up support and a free Toolkit. This is highly subsidised at 60% below cost, as it is funded by Capacitybuilders’ National Support Services Leadership and Governance workstream.

Training courses are delivered regionally and are an ideal opportunity to network as well as expand your own skills.  The next training will be 16-17 June for London region and 24-25 June in Birmingham as a national programme.

FREE Funding Seminar for Women’s Organisations

Thursday 1st July, 9:30am – 2pm at the Stratford Advice Arcade, E15 1HP.

The purpose of the seminar is to give local women’s organisations an opportunity to learn more about the sustainable funding including the reality of commissioning and how they can get involved, presentations will be given by key local commissioners and other funding experts.

It is being run by The Women’s Resource Centre, in partnership with Newham Voluntary Sector Consortium.

Free Safeguarding Adults Awareness Training

This half-day course run by Waltham Forest Council will give an overall awareness of the issues of abuse, potential abuse and prevention of abuse of vulnerable adults (aged 18+). It will inform staff of their responsibilities and the relevant legislation involved. It will enable staff to identify specific issues & concerns.

Times: 9.30am-12.30 for a morning course. 1.30-4.30pm for an afternoon course.

LCSB Training Programme

Waltham Forest Local Safeguarding Children Board are the statutory body responsible for coordinating policy and practice for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in the borough. They work with all agencies responsible for providing services to children and young people up to the age of eighteen.

Helping you to keep children safe

NSPCC and Children England have launched a new service aimed at protecting the eight million children taking part in voluntary activities. Safe Network will help organisations put policies and procedures in place to prevent abuse within their services, help staff recognise children who are at risk, advise on safer recruitment practices, and provide information for parents so they will know if organisations their children are involved in have sound safeguarding arrangements in place.
